Any alternatives to get my large dog from US to UK?

I’m sure the other passengers on the plane would be delighted! 
I think you should call up the cruise liners and ask specifically, because some do take dogs. The other option is crossing over with a freighter, should be much cheaper than a cruise and the size of the dog should not matter.
However, maybe you want to reconsider the cargo trip for him, I know several people who have done that with their cats and dogs, and they seem to have survived it well…. (both parties)

They ship animals of all kinds (there are a few restrictions). A dog that large would not be allowed in the cabin of a passenger plane. A carrier must fit under the seat and an 80 pound dog is not going to fit. The only animals allowed on planes without carriers are service animals (seeing eye dogs, hearing ear dogs, service monkeys).
I think Delta Dash has shipped horses before. Wow. Then again, UPS and FedEx have shipped whales.
